Scout collects as little as possible: no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies. This policy explains what data the site processes when you visit it, and what League of Legends player data it shows.
Who is responsible
Scout (working title) is a free, non-commercial League of Legends companion at projectscout.lol. The controller under the GDPR is:

Scout is a project in development. The product name and design are not final.
What data we process
Visitors:
IP address, browser type, time of request and requested URL, sent automatically by your browser to our hosting providers.
Riot IDs you search for, sent to our backend to load the data.
Search history, selected theme and cached match data, stored only in your own browser (local storage).
League of Legends players:
Riot ID, PUUID, summoner level, profile icon, ranked standings, match history and match statistics, taken from the official Riot Games API.
We do not ask for your name, email address or a login. We do not process payment data.
The player data Scout shows is the same public game data Riot makes available through its API. It may include players who have never visited Scout. We do not combine it with data from other sources and we do not try to identify the real person behind a Riot ID.
Why we process it and on what legal basis
Delivering the website and keeping it secure (connection data, protection against abuse and overload), legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Showing live games, profiles and match history for the Riot ID you search, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, in providing the service you request.
Caching match data on our server so each match is fetched from Riot only once: legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, in staying within Riot's API rate limits.
Remembering your recent searches in your browser: strictly necessary for a function you use, Section 25(2) TDDDG.
Our legitimate interest in showing player data is offering a free stats tool for public game data. Players can object at any time (see "Your rights").
Service providers and transfers outside the EU

We have data processing agreements with our hosting providers where required. Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, otherwise on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 GDPR).
Local storage, cookies and tracking
Scout shows no ads and uses no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. We do not sell or share data for marketing.
Scout uses your browser's local storage to make the site faster and remember your settings:
Your most recent search, so the site can reopen it
Match data you have already viewed, so it loads instantly next time
The current version and patch notes This data stays on your device and is never sent to us as a profile.
This data stays on your device and is never sent to us as a profile. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for projectscout.lol.
How long we keep data
Server and proxy logs (IP address, request data): [X] days, then deleted by our providers.
Cached match and player data on our server: [X] days, or until deleted on request.
Live game data: only while the game is running, not stored afterwards.
Local storage in your browser: until you clear it.
If Riot removes or restricts data, or a player opts out with Riot, we remove it from our cache as well.
Your Rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
Access the data we hold about you (Art. 15)
Have incorrect data corrected (Art. 16)
Have your data deleted (Art. 17)
Restrict processing (Art. 18)
Receive your data in a portable format (Art. 20)
Object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
For League of Legends players:
if you don't want your profile or matches shown on Scout, email us your Riot ID (Name#Tag). We will remove your cached data and stop showing your profile. We may ask you to confirm that the account is yours. To use any of these rights, contact hello@prettygory.design.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one responsible for us: LDI NRW.
Changes to this policy
Scout is in alpha, and this policy will change as features are added. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will point out significant changes on the site.
